Blackberry Mint Moscow Mules

Blackberry Mint Moscow Mule

I love Moscow mules so much, in my opinion they are an amazing summer drink, especially out a copper mug. What I love most about the Moscow mule is they can be just as delicious and refreshing without alcohol.

Fun Fact: One of my friends was pregnant and when we had a girls’ night I made these drinks – however for her, I did not add vodka and just topped the drink off with extra ginger beer – we called it the “MOM-SCOW MULE.” Regardless of the reasons you do or do not drink – we love an all-inclusive beverage, and I hope you enjoy this drink as much as I do!

This blackberry mint Moscow mule is one of my favorites, it is just different, but it is a crowd pleaser. The blackberry simple syrup is what truly sets this delightful drink apart. It allows you to get as much of the blackberry flavor infused into the drink as you can.

Blackberry Simple Syrup

For the simple syrup, you are going to add the water and sugar into your sauce pan on medium heat till the sugar has completely dissolved. Add the fresh blackberries WHOLE into the sugar water mixture. Allow the syrup to come to a simmer to break the blackberries up, bring it down to a lighter simmer and you can use a whisk to continue to break up the berries.

Remove it from the heat and just let the syrup sit and cool down a bit. Once the mixture is cool enough to handle – use a mesh strainer to separate the seeds from the syrup this will give you a clean/smooth/seedless syrup – but this is completely optional. If you like pulp you can keep the syrup as is and refrigerate it.

Creating the Cocktail

Add your mint leaves to the cocktail shaker, muddle the leaves of mint at the bottom of your cocktail shaker. Add some fresh lime juice directly into the cocktail shaker on top of the mint. Then add your blackberry simple syrup, vodka, and ice. Close your shaker and SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE.

Once done shaking, pour the mixture (with strainer) into a copper mug. Top with Ginger Beer - and optional: Garnish with mint leaves and a lime wedge.

Enjoying without Alcohol

If you want to enjoy this beverage without alcohol; muddle the mint in cocktail shaker, add lime, blackberry simple syrup and ice. Pour into your copper mug, top off with ginger beer (in place of vodka), and enjoy!
