welcome!

I am so happy to have you here.

My name is Rachel, I am a wife, a mama, I work a corporate job by day, and run a business in the evenings with my husband, but my true passion, is all things food.

Not only do I love food, more so, I love cooking, baking, creating, developing and being in the kitchen. I’m no professional chef, I am a self-taught home cook who simply wants to share her love for all things food with you as I continue to teach myself techniques.

I am a proud half black (dad), half Filipino (mom) woman, hence the name – “The Hungry Blasian.”

I was raised with a creole catering grandmother, a mother who catered on the side in addition to working her full-time job, teaching me Filipino cuisine with cooking techniques growing up. And was blessed with a grandmother-in-law who was known for her country-soul food cuisine – selling her famous desserts to the community. Food has never just been something I only eat – it was a celebration of love, life, and togetherness.

In my opinion, cooking should be fun but flexible, and although some may have more experience in the kitchen than others, I hope that this space will encourage you to be comfortable and confident in the kitchen. We all start somewhere. But remember, at the end of the day, a meal always tastes better when enjoyed with the ones you love most.

Now, let’s eat! Kain tayo!
